Still, for piano & electronics was composed over 2012-2013 by Robert Piéchaud, and is a musical tribute to Robert Smithson, and in particular to his earthwork Spiral Jetty (1970).
Still was performed at Collège des Bernardins, Paris, on June 13, 2013. Image montage is by photographer Raphaël Chipault.
The piece has two identifiable parts:
I - Construction of the Earth
II - Inner Jetty
This work is mirrored in a diptych with Morton Feldman’s Palais de Mari for piano solo: Palais de Mari (Feldman/Piéchaud/Chipault)
